Our Addictive God Gene

by Chuck Ness

Every human has been hotwired with a special faith component to our souls, even agnostics and atheists have faith in what they believe. Another way to explain this would be to say we have all been created with an addiction gene. It's that ever yearning desire to find something that will make us feel like we belong, or comfortable in our own skin if you will.

From the moment we become conscious of our self, we begin searching for that One Thing our soul craves. For each of us it could be a different point in life. Some find it when they are 10, some at 14, and yet others may take years before they find it, even into their 90s or on their deathbed. Sadly, most humans never find it until it's much much too late. However, each and everyone of us are in search of it, even though we don't realize it.

This search could take us on journeys far from home and away from loved ones, or it could consist of a life long search in the little town we were born and never leave from. As we search, we will go through many trials and tribulations from thinking we found it. Just to realize, that which we search for has yet to be found. So we try to fill that empty cold spot with things like drugs, alcohol, sex, eating, television, work, money, shopping, and sports. We will go from one addiction to another, never feeling as fulfilled or satisfied as we were created to feel.

Our bodies are made up of trillions and trillions of cells, and each one has its own complete set of instructions for how we are constructed. This set of instructions is known as our genome and is made up of DNA?. Within our DNA is a unique chemical code that guides our growth, development and health. This DNA is coiled up into structures called chromosomes? Within our chromosomes, sections of DNA are "read" together to form genes? Well, all these microscopic parts, work together so that our system will work. Now the thing that actually glues all these things together, so we won't fly apart like cosmic dust, is the protein we call laminin.

It just so happens that laminin is the most critical molecule in our bodies, and it's shaped like a cross. Yup, a cross, some would say a sword, while others claim it reminds them of a caduceus. (below) A caduceus is the symbol for medicine, a rod entwined with two serpents wrapped around it. Some have even likened it to the snake Moses made from bronze then lifted on a pole for the Israelites to be healed from the poisonous serpents God sent to punish them. Numbers 21:5-9.

Laminin is a protein molecule that literally holds the cells within our bodies together. The most important property of laminin is its ability to easily bind to each other and to other proteins. This makes laminin a critical means of holding tissues and organs together. Kind of makes you think of two verses in the Scriptures, Hebrews 1:3 tells us that He (speaking of Christ) upholds all things by the word of His power. Then Colossians 1:15-17 tells us that Christ is the very image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation....... and in Him all things are held together. Without Christ we would fall apart and be nothing but cosmic dust. Without Laminin ours bodies could not survive, because we would be separated and end up as cosmic dust. The cross molecules that hold all living things together like glue.

Throughout our human bodies, we have the power of Christ holding us together, with the Holy Spirit moving us to yearn for our Father. The Holy Trinity is at work in us, and through us. Is it any wonder we have a craving to once again walk through the garden during the cool of the day with our Father? From the moment Adam and Eve lost communion with God, because they ate of the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, man has been yearning to get back to Him.

Reject Him at your own peril but I promise you this, until must admit our guilt and accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, we will continue finding Worldly ways to satisfy the emptiness in our souls. These addictions will only lead to misery in this World, and an eternal separation from God after we leave this World. There is but one way to fill that void, and that's through the blood shed at the cross by Christ Jesus. Trust in Him, and He will bring you back into an everlasting fellowship with our Father in heaven.

I welcome differing opinions, I do believe in free speech, just not vulgar cuss laden comments written for the only purpose of offending people in general.

Differing opinions is not what I refer to, go ahead and disagree, but in a polite way so we can have a logical respectful discussion.

By offensive, I mean by being vulgar, as in swearing, using God's name in vain, or derogatorily offensive in a way you would not talk to your own Grandmother, Mother, or daughter, and then the comment will be removed.

I may not respond to your comment promptly, and there is no way with blogger for me to respond directly to your comment,. So come back and look for me to respond in a new comment to you by the name you post your comment with.
