He Has Risen, Come See and Go Tell

(Today I am sharing an Easter outline I put together for my Bangladesh ministry)

Matthew 28:5-7

The Message of Easter is

"COME SEE, GO and TELL!"

"Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you."

  1. The reason Easter so important, is because if Christ was not risen, then we have no salvation

    1. Paul tells us in his first letter to the Corinthians,

if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.

(1Corinthians 15:17-19)

  1. A denial of the resurrection is a denial of the Gospel itself

  2. Without a physical resurrection, there is no victory over death

  3. That Jesus rose from the dead in the same essential physical body of flesh and bones in which he was crucified is the of foundation Christianity. Historic Christianity stands or falls on the historicity and materiality of the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ.

  4. So momentous was this single event in the First Century that its effects have been described as a "widening circle of ripples" from a "boulder crashing into the pool of history." In the most quirkiest moment of all of history, a message centering on a dead "criminal" (1 Corinthians 1:23) came to be proclaimed as "good news."

  5. Paul’s words should reverberate throughout all of Christiandom,

If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation

(Romans 10:9-10)

  1. There are four words in todays’s text which sum up the message of Easter.  These word’s are commands that all Christians should take to heart.

    1. Come

    2. See

    3. Go

    4. Tell

  2. COME!     for He is risen, as He said. Come

    1. Jesus was dead!

      1. He had been betrayed by Judas

      2. Forsaken by His disciples

      3. Denied by Peter

      4. Tried by the Sanhedran

      5. Condemned to die by Pontius Pilate

      6. Crucified at Calvary

      7. Buried in the tomb of Joseph of Arimithea.

    2. On Easter morning women came to the tomb,

Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.

(Matthew 28:1)

  1.  They were concerned they would not be able to get in to him

And they said among themselves, "Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?"

(Mark 16:3)

  1. When they arrived they were in for the surprise of their lives!

And behold, there was a great earthquake;

(Matthew 28:2a)

  1. The were met by an angel of the Lord

for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it.

 (Matthew 28:2b)

  1. The angel tells them fear not

But the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.

(Matthew 28:5)

  1. They angels then tell them to Come

He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come

(Matthew 28:6)

  1. Since Adam and Eve sinned in the garden, God has been calling us to come to HIM

    1. His promise of a Messiah was a call for us to come to HIM

“And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel."

(Genesis 3:15)

  1. His invitation to the children of Israel was a call to come to HIM

  2. Later He invited them to come to HIM into the promised land.

  3. Through the prophets He gave us great invitations to come to HIM

"Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk Without money and without price. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance. Incline your ear, and come to ME. Hear, and your soul shall live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you—The sure mercies of David.

(Isaiah 55:1-3)

  1. Jesus made that same great invitation during HIS ministry

“Come to ME, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

(Matthew 11:28-30)

  1. Come to HIm if you labor under a load of guilt?

  2. Come to HIm if you are burdened with the awfulness of your sin?

  3. Come to HIm if you labored to get into Heaven, and are still not sure you're going to make it?

  4. Come to HIm if you are "heavy laden" with the load of trying to live up to legalistic standards that come from men’s traditions, but are not of GOD

JESUS says "Come! Come unto ME!"

  1. Come to HIm Who has left the tomb!

  2. Come to HIM Who has risen from the dead!

  3. Come to HIM Who is living right now in Heaven!

  4. Come to HIM Who is offering forgiveness and salvation to all who believe!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

 (John 3:16)

  1. Come to HIM Who offers peace and power to all who have believed on Him!

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

(John 14:27)

  1. SEE!     see the place where the Lord lay

    1. Notice the angel did not say, “look”, he said see

      1. When you look at something you may not comprehend or understand

      2. When you see something, you also see with your mind and you can fully appreciate it

      3. The angel wanted the women to "see" with their heart, mind, and soul

      4. By doing so, they truly see the tomb was empty, because Christ had risen from the dead

      5. God wants us all to "see" that Christ is risen from the dead and is alive forever

      6. God wants us to place our faith and trust in Him as our Savior.

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

(Romans 10:9-10)

  1. GO!     go quickly

    1. The women were told to go.

    2. Jesus did not intend for anyone to stare continually into the empty tomb.

    3. After we come to a point of seeing the empty tomb and trusting Christ as Savior, we are to go.

      1. We are to go to learn more about Him.

but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

(2 Peter 3:18)

  1. We are to go to Him in prayer.

And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

(John 14:13-14)

  1. We are to go with Jesus Christ, allowing Him to live through us.

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

(Galatians 2:20)

  1. We are to go to church and fellowship with other believers.

And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

(Hebrews 10:24-25)

  1. We are to go to a lost and dying world.

Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, "Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?"

(Acts 1:8)

  1. TELL!     tell His disciples

    1. The women were supposed to tell the disciples of the resurrection.

      1. Christianity is one beggar telling another where to find bread.

      2. Remember the demon posessed man Jesus healed?

And when Jesus got into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged Jesus that he might be go with Him. However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, "Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you."

(Mark 5:19-20)

  1. Jesus told the man to go tell the world of how Jesus saved him

  1. Job #1 of all Christians is to tell others about the good news

    1. This is what the Great Commision is all about. It was the last thing Jesus told His disciples before He was lifted up into the clouds

Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching (telling) them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

(Matthew 28:16-20)

  1. We are to share (tell about) the Gospel

  2. We should all want to tell our friends and relatives so they too can be saved

Let the redeemed of the LORD say (tell) so, Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy,

(Psalm107:2)

And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach (tell) the gospel to every creature.

(Mark 16:15)

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense (tell) to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;

(1 Peter 3:15)

I welcome differing opinions, I do believe in free speech, just not vulgar cuss laden comments written for the only purpose of offending people in general.

Differing opinions is not what I refer to, go ahead and disagree, but in a polite way so we can have a logical respectful discussion.

By offensive, I mean by being vulgar, as in swearing, using God's name in vain, or derogatorily offensive in a way you would not talk to your own Grandmother, Mother, or daughter, and then the comment will be removed.
