Do Not Rejoice When Evil People Fall Proverbs 24:17-18

by Chuck Ness

As we watch the way the Democrats attack every good thing, while upholding and rewarding all evil, it is natural to desire the day they fall. Yet when that day comes, and it surely will, remember not to celebrate nor rejoice. Instead consider what Solomon wrote in Proverb 24:17-18;

Do not rejoice when your enemy falls,
And do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles;
Lest the LORD see it, and it displease Him,
And He turn away His wrath from him

Proverbs 24:17-18

So if you truly pray for the wicked to meet justice from God, then let God do it, but do not do as they do my rejoicing. For by doing so, you are telling God you are no better than they are. It is a fearful thing to be judged by the Righteous GOD.

Psalm 1:5-6 tells us that only the ungodly will stand in the judgement before GOD'

Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
For the LORD knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Psalm 1:5-6
So on the day of judgment, for their evil, GOD will punishment them greatly and eternaly. For as Jesus tells us,
“The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!
Matthew 13:41-43

They will be separated from GOD for eternity, if they never repent of their evil. So do not rejoice when the day of their punishment comes, because you cannot understand the damnation they have cursed themselves to face. Instead pity them, for their punishment will never end.

We are not to be as Jonah was, who hated the Ninevites so much that he didn't even want them to hear GOD's message to repent and be saved. The prophet was angry at their repentance because he would rather see them destroyed. So he refused to share the truth with the Ninivites, and instead headed into the opposite direction. When God finally got him to Ninevah, he admitted his sin and repented.

But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry. And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.
Jonah 4:1-2

Jonah knew from the start that God was gracious and merciful. He realized that if the people of Nineveh repented, God would spare them. There are many reasons for Jonah's hatred for the Nineveh and why he would rather see then destroyed. After all, Nineveh was the capitol of the Assyrian Empire, the Assyrian’s were a heartless, cruel, and evil people; they were great enemies of Israel. Jonah had no love for them, yet GOD wanted to show compassion to them by giving them a chance to repent.

This is why Jesus calls us to be vessels of compassion, and to pray for our enemies to be saved,

Jesus told us in “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so?
Matthew 5:44-47

Maybe, just maybe some of these many evil people who are in a position of power today will repent, and be used by GOD to turn what is meant for evil into good. However, even if they don't repent, we are called to be the lantern of Christ, so He can shine HIS light of truth and compassion on all. If they do not repent, then when the day comes for their fall, remember to let it be. Then you will be assured they will feel the full punishment of GOD for their evil, lest He remove HIS wrath and they escape their punishment here on earth. So bless them, it will be like pouring hot coals upon their heads.

I pray that those who have ears to hear will hear His voice and call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen

I welcome differing opinions, I do believe in free speech, just not vulgar cuss laden comments written for the only purpose of offending people in general.

Differing opinions is not what I refer to, go ahead and disagree, but in a polite way so we can have a logical respectful discussion.

By offensive, I mean by being vulgar, as in swearing, using God's name in vain, or derogatorily offensive in a way you would not talk to your own Grandmother, Mother, or daughter, and then the comment will be removed.
